www.cictrainingsa.com.au

Yes! This is it, the long awaited website that the team has been working on. After much consultation and deliberation, GREG has done it again. This website was developed mainly as a reference for employers and local businesses to the training solutions and courses that CIC has to offer. It really does serve as a marketing tool in promoting the E-Learning initiative that CIC is engaged in. To view the website go to www.cictrainingsa.com.au
The website has been designed to accommodate and promote all CIC SA domestic courses and initiatives as they arise. While currently very course-specific and light on content, this could perhaps be used as a starting point for CIC SA. We are thrilled that we have the website up and going. Any feedbacks would be welcomed.

Nuts and Bolts

It’s been nearly a month since I last posted something and I feel terribly sorry for not keeping up with this and I intend to make amends.

Anyway, as the subject suggests, it is really the time to get into the nuts and bolts of the project.

Lynda’s been busy translating the existing materials on one of the core units, Introduction to Design Concepts into E-learning material. It is really fascinating just looking at the work that she has done and is still doing, apart from the occasional self-laughter that you hear from her desk. She claims that it is therapeutic. I could not agree more.

Greg, our IT man has just returned from a one week trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with a revolutionary gadget - IPAD! How envious. I must admit though that it is a cool and fantastic “toy” to have. Greg is quite adamant in believing that IPAD will be used by education providers’ in the near future in delivering education to learners all over the world. Who knows? The IT world never cease to amaze me.

Sorry that I got sidetracked there a bit but Greg has been very diligent in setting up the IT facilities for our project. I can now officially announce that our CIC E-Learning website is underway…and it should be up and running soon, and I shall paste a link in my next posting so that you can view it and perhaps suggest any ideas for improvement.

As we move on to the ongoing consultation between CIC and the Pre-press industry, I must admit that it has, by far been the most challenging but exciting part of this initiative.

The speed of technological change has been dealt with traditionally and in some cases, painfully. Part of our initiative here is to break the cycle of how training was done traditionally by focusing on a more customised training for the workplace as opposed to how we would deliver it normally.

On a more positive note, we have been taken by surprise that the industry appears to be more embracing towards this new concept of E-learning. Having noted that, we would like to capitalise on this opportunity to get the industry on board with us. It is a vision that we desire to see in the future, and it is an exciting time ahead.

So, watch this space! Adios for now...
